Additional Learning Tools and Resources
Watching a presentation is a passive activity. Getting information is important ... but its not the destination or end point. Now that you've watched the video, its time to do something with the information you've heard. It's time to act on it. The resources below provide an opportunity to do this. We encourage learners to solidify their learning through the use of one or more of the following resources.
Getting the Hang of Charge Concept Builder
Concept Builders are great learning tools for developing and refining an understanding of a topic. This Concept Builder allows students to analyze information about the attraction and repulsion of charged (and uncharged) balloons and neutral paper bits in order to determine the type of charge on one of the balloons. It's an awesome follow-up to this video.
Charge Interactions Concept Builder
Given the charge of an object and how it interacts with other objects, you have to determine what is known about the charge of those other objects. Has three levels of difficulty. A real challenge.
Minds On Physics the App, Part 4, Mission SE2 in the Static Electricity Module
Minds On Physics is not for the meek-hearted. They are interactive questioning modules that provide a rigorous workout in careful reading, analytical thinking, and conceptual reasoning. Mission SE2 from our Static Electricity module is titled Ineractions Between Charged Objects.
Physics Interactives, Static Electricity Chapter, Charging Simulation
You can learn a lot by playing. And with this simulation, you can see those + and - charges as you play with charged balloons and conductors. But don't play too long ... you probably have some work to do.
Physics Classroom Tutorial, Static Elecricity Chapter
Sometimes you need a written reference to freshen up on what you're learning. And that written reference would be the Tutorial section of our website. The following page will be a helpful complement to this video:
