Subatomic Particles
The Subatomic Particles Concept Builder challenges learners to use information regarding the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons within an atom in order to complete a table showing such data for a variety of isotopes. There are three scaffolded difficulty levels. In the
Apprentice Difficulty Level, each of the particles are neutral atoms. In the
Master DIfficulty Level, each of the particles are charged ions and the number of electrons is stated. In the
Wizard Difficulty Level, each of the particles are ions and the location of the element in the periodic table must be used to determine the ion charge. Question-specific help is provided for each of the three difficulty levels. The built-in score-keeping makes this Concept Builder a perfect candidate for a classroom activity.
Users are encouraged to open the Concept Builder and explore. There is no need for an activity sheet for this Concept Builder. However, the tables for the three different difficulty levels can be printed. View
