Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation:
All objects with mass attract each other with a gravitational force. The magnitude of the force is directly related to the product of the masses and inversely related to the square of the separation distance between their centers.

Gravity is a non-contact force that exists between two objects even when not in contact. It is a force that acts over a distance of separation between two objects. Other non-contact forces that you might be familiar with are magnetic forces and electrical forces. While magnetic and electric forces can be both attractive and repulsive, gravity forces are always attractive. Masses always attract and never repel.
