Law Enforcement - Explosions
Law Enforcement - Explosions is designed to help students build an understanding of the law of momentum conservation as it applies to explosions. Learners will be presented with three different situations involving an explosive-like impulse between two unequal-mass carts on a track. A
Before- and
After-Explosion representation of the mass and velocity of each cart is presented for all three situations. Learners will have to inspect the diagram and identify any situation that violates the law of momentum conservation. There are three difficulty levels that differ only in terms of the number of questions presented to the learner. Help is provided and is easily accessible.
