Isotopes

The Isotopes Concept Builder challenges learners to use information regarding the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons within an atom in order to create the isotope notation for that atom. There are three scaffolded activities. The first activity consists of all multiple choice questions that target a basic understanding of fundamental vocabulary. The second and third activities - Isotopes I and Isotopes II - provide students the opportunity to make decisions about how to construct the isotope notation for an atom. There are a total of 42 questions in this Concept Builder. They are organized into 18 different Question Groups and spread across the three activities. Question-specific help is provided for each of the 18 situations. The built-in score-keeping makes this Concept Builder a perfect candidate for a classroom activity.
