    An incompressible fluid passes

      There is no friction or energy loss.

   Notes:

      The pressure at point 1 is kept constant as changes are made.

      The pressures shown are guage pressures.

   A₂ = cross-section area of fluid in pipe 2 (m²)

   v₁ = speed of fluid in pipe 1 (m/s)

   g = acceleration due to gravity (m/s²)

   h₁ = height of fluid supported by pressure at point 1 (m)
