Density Ranking Tasks
The Density Ranking Tasks Concept Builder presents learners with the challenge of interpreting information about the mass and volume of three samples of matter in order to rank the three samples according to their relative density. The information on mass and volume is presented differently in each of the three activities of the Concept Builder. In the first activity, the information is presented in the form of a particle level diagram. In the second activity, the information is presented in the form of explicitly stated mass and volume values. And in the third activity, the information is presented in a format related to commonly used demonstrations (density columns) and experiments (water-displacement experiments). There are a total of 45 questions in this Concept Builder. They are organized into 15 different Question Groups and spread across the three activities. Question-specific help is provided for each of the 15 situations. The built-in score-keeping makes this Concept Builder a perfect candidate for a classroom activity.
Users are encouraged to open the Concept Builder and explore. There is no need for an activity sheet for this Concept Builder. However, the 15 different groups of questions can be printed. View
